Warning: never, never go to ETAR on 11-11 of any year. 11-11 is clearly a holiday. Called "veteranendag". So they told me (Germans working on the base). Only 2 civiel planes came in. The first time in my life I did not see at Ramstein a single C 17 come in. It is was a very long and boring day!

Strange, that day 1x C-5 came in and 4x C-17's arrived and one nice C-40, 2x nice Herky bird and a KC-135 all land. So it was not so bad after all.

Cheers,
Eric

I was 11/11 around the airbase from 09.00 till 16.45 (in front of runway). Not one minute away. Not sleeping. I did not see one of the birds you mention come in during day time. Whatever happens when it is dark, only scanner freeks know. When I arrived 11/11 at 09.00 the C 40 + 1 nice Herky (C130J) was already on deck. Someone told me they arrived shortly after midnight. I am only happy if I can make pictures. The observation alone is not enough. I visit Ramstein since 1974. For me it was a all time low event. A good thing there is a explanation

Cheers,

Hans

Yes you are correct. Between your arrival and departure time almost nothing was arriving. All mine mentioned a/c arrived before or after the time that you were there.
It's not good for photographers when the base is 24hours open for traffic. Most of the traffic is arriving shortly after 06h00.

Eric

I can fully understand Hans opinion: all those numbers (even on 11th it was very quiet) are nice, but if they only fly in the dark, it's boring boring and boring again during day time.... But this is common practice in the last few month (with I know, some exceptional good days)......

Oz

Ps: Hans, be aware, next week is slow again second half of the week, because of Thanksgiving (Thursday).....

With the Ops tempo slowly going down ... I guess we can't expect activity to increase...

@ Oscar01 thanks for the info for next week !
