Annoyingly, I get flushed with Twitter messages on the DXB airshow, but now that it matters: total silence on the organisation's feed!
Edit: sources hint that it is one of the M346 preset...

If the article is correct, it must have been C.M.X615, which was flying on Tuesday and Wednesday when I was there...

according newspaper:
An Italian-made military aircraft, returning to Italy after the Dubai Airshow, crashed in Dubai this morning (Fri).

"Yes, there has been an accident in Dubai," the spokesperson said. "The plane was a military aircraft and was at the Dubai Airshow. It was returning to Italy after the show. The crew that was in the plane ejected with success and didn't receive any serious injuries."

The spokesperson said the aircraft was a prototype used only by the company and not for sale.
So it could not be the static aircraft: CSX55144, as that was handed over to the AMI on 14th of November.

Aermacchi M-346 Prototype Crashes After Leaving Dubai

The first prototype Alenia Aermacchi M-346 Master advanced jet trainer crashed in the sea off Dubai on November 18, shortly after leaving the Dubai Air Show.

Alenia AermacchiAlenia Aermacchi's first prototype M-346 Master advanced jet trainer, CM.X615 (c/n 001), crashed into the sea off Palm Deira, Dubai, on November 18.

Both crew were, however, able to eject safely prior to the crash and were recovered with only minor injuries and taken to hospital in Dubai.

The aircraft had departed from the Dubai Air Show in company with the first T-346A for the Italian Air Force, CS.X55144, en route home via an initial technical stop in Saudi Arabia.

However, the M-346 encountered technical problems shortly after take-off from Dubai and ditched just off the coast.

The T-346A returned safely to Dubai.
