Why is CXs desicison to extend AMS to CDG an indicator they can no longer support an AMS terminator flight and furthermore EK is to blame?XYZ wrote:Starting 1 February 2012, Cathay Pacific has decided to increase capacity to Paris again by extending the HKG-AMS route on to Paris and re-introducing the B747 on all flights. It will operate HKG-AMS-Paris daily with B747-400.
CX's action indicates that the route HKG-AMS-HKG is suffering strong competition ever since EK started flying to AMS, as AMS can no longer fill CX planes by itself.

CX will offer 2 non-stop flights to CDG starting with the 2012 summer schedules and will again terminate at AMS opb B744. Based on this it could simply be a quick solution by CX to increase CDG service due to increased demand, without the need to allocate extra equipment. EKs operations at AMS certainly will have an influence on other carriers as they target similar markets. With regard to CX, EK also targets different markets (e.g. Africa, India and the Middle-East).
