Ekranoplan: meet the monster

Not exactly an aircraft, but still worth taking a look: the Ekranoplan, the 'Monster of the Caspian Sea'.
These photos were taken in a dry dock somewhere in Russia. What a beast!

Wow, this is an impressive view of the 'Monster of the Caspian Sea'. Too bad about the condition it is in.

Is "Ekranoplan" in Russian? And what does the word mean/stand for?

The groundeffect-plane , WIG (wing-in-ground effect) or WISE (wing-in-surface-effect) vehicle of ekranoplan (Russisch).
