Antonov 22 Antei...

Hi all....

I´ve got a question about the mighty Antonov 22. I´m not the type of guy that goes to an airport across the borders just for one plane, but for this beast i would like to make an acception. if i am right, there are only 6 flying pieces left worldwide. I allso know that it has been at Oostende in the past......does it still come there? Are there any other airports in Europe where this plane flies?

In Europe there is almost nil chance to see one. Altough last year I believe one or two Russian AF An-22's were seen at Prague?? on their way to Algeria I thought.

The ADB one, UR-09307 is/was in maintenance at Kiev/Gostomel and isn't seen for some years now active.

So maybe off to Speyer to see UR-64460 in the museum......

Yeps, but i really would like to see an operational and flying one, though i know the chance to see one really is slim. Anyways, thanks for the respons!

If you know that, than I assume you also know it has been at AMS as well. More recent in fact. Ostend was in 2003, AMS was in 2007. So never say never...

Ljubliana also saw two AN-22 visits in 2010/2011 (including Russian AF camo Antei).

The ADB seems to be wfu as she hasn't flown for three years by now.
Tver AFB is the place to be in Russia

You're right Menno only six flying ones left (after a crash in december 2010) and they seldom fly out of Russia.

Wholy macral CBR, some nice shots you got there! This beast is just awesome! i think that there´s only one option left, and that is going to Russia....

@ Erwin: no, i wasn't aware of the fact it has visited EHAM too, but i sure do hope it will come back again in the future.....
