Madrid military spotting - Torrejon/Getafe

after a quick search on old posts, I am asking here an help.

Next week I will be in Madrid for job and on friday, february the 3rd I will probably be free all day long (9-17) and would like to go to spot some militaries.

I was thinking about Torrejon and Getafe.

Torrejon is my first choice (I think more traffic) but if someone tells me Getafe has nice traffic and the photo possibilities are good I could swap.

PLs note that:

First I will not have a car (I could rent if necessary but prefer do avoid it).

Second I have not a spotting guide to Torrejon (Getafe is free, Torrejon no, here on scramble airfield guide), if someone could help me thanks.

Third, I am interested in photos, no numbers

tips are more than welcome.

Don't know about Torrejon, but Getafe is very easy to reach by metro. There's a metro station called Getafe if I remember correctly, and from there it's not too far to walk to the airfield. When I was there a few years ago, there wasn't much traffic though. I think I saw only 2 F-18's leave during the several hours I was there.

I do recommend you do hire a car. Its much easier. Also if flying is slow at one of the places you can change in one hour.

And do not forget Cuatro Vientos with its SpAF museum.

If you could rent a car, then I would suggest you do!

And it would mean you could include Cuatro Vientos as well! Might be more interesting than Getafe for photography (but as at Torrejon, it might not be appreciated by the local law enforcers).

I made a mistake in my previous post, I actually meant Colmenar Viejo. So my remark regarding the local law enforcers was meant for that army base, not for Cuatro Vientos. I guess they don't have a problem with taking pictures in the museum...

thanks to all. In the end I went to Cuatro Vientos museum, very nice and interesting.

The weather was beautifull but very cold so I decided to go there.

The Museum is free for all and opens at 10am and close at 2pm.

It is not allowed to enter with backpacks so if you have important things in it you must leave out of the entrance in a box with key.

I was there with metro and the stop is "Cuatro Vientos" line 10 (one of the major line) from the airport it is about 25 minutes time and must change only once (from 8 to 10 line). when you exit there are not signes but turn left and follow the dirty road along the railway until you reach a small bridge on the left and the entrance (about 15 minutes walk). I think in summer is a hard walk....
