Emirates (EK) are to upgrade their Amsterdam service to an A380 from August01st 2012. Since launching passenger flights to the Netherlands in May 2010, the route has been operated with a combination of B777-300ER and B777-200LR. Following 18 months of strong demand, the Boeings will be replaced with the airline’s flagship A380. EK147 becomes an A380 flight, leaving Dubai (DXB) at 08h25 and arriving in Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) at 13h30. The return EK148, departs AMS at 15h30 and lands in DXB at 23h59. Amongst their 169 aircraft in operation, EK have a fleet of 20 A380 which currently serve Auckland, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Jeddah, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, London LHR, Manchester, Munich, New York JFK, Paris, Rome, Seoul, Shanghai, Sydney and Toronto. AMS will become the 19th A380 point after an A380 deployment to Tokyo in July 2012. (AirTransportNews & Just4airlines, February15th 2012).
