Bruntingthorpe Bucc Run

Post by Roughcutter »

Hi Everyone! Newcomer to this forum :)
I had a fabulous time last Saturday afternoon at Bruntingthorpe Airfield (home of Cold War Jets), to see the debut of recently restored Buccaneer XW544. Resplendent in a fresh coat of paint and her former 16 Sqn markings, enjoy!

Very nice! Is it able to fly or just for taxiing?

Very nice paintjob on that beautiful Buccaneer.
Would be a fantastic aircraft for some kind of historical flight like the Vulcan or the BobMF.
Great that it's used for taxiing. That's something.
Thanks for sharing, nice pics!

regards, Per

Thanks for the feedback guys! :)
Sadly XW544 doesn't fly, I don't know whether or not she's actually airworthy but you can thank the boys at the CAA for that - health & safety etc...
Still at least she's still living and breathing fire along with the many other treasures that reside at 'Brunty' thanks to the dedication and supreme efforts of the guys there, heroes one and all! :worship:
Bruntingthorpe is a great place to visit, reccomend it next time you're over here http://www.bruntingthorpeaviation.com/!

Great shots of the Bucc and other oldies at Bruntingthorpe! I have added it to my wishlist of places still to visit!

I noticed that XX894 is also over there (now in Royal Navy c/s as "R-020"), although in a more standard c/s compared to when I saw her last (at KB in 1991):

Wow, great pictures. And great to see a Buccaneer in 16sqn markings again. I have spent so many hours at the fence of RAF laarbruch watching these beauties take off and land. As a teenager I lived about 20km from the base and on wednesday afternoons and holidays I often went there on my bike to stand at the fence. Memories...
