Remarkable... When the Viggens were about to be retired I had read that there would never be a civilian Viggen for two reasons:
1) the Viggen is built with components that are partially glued (or something) and therefore the life expectancy is very limited.
2) when the Drakens were retired they were used as 'baddies' in a movie and SAAB or the Swedish gvmt wanted to prevent this from happening again (SAAB should be very happy that it never produced the F-5)

With the Swedish Air Force Historical Flight as the operator, flying from Satenas, I would imagine there is still some informal control of the aircraft by the government via the Air Force.

This is what we want! The Viggen flew again today, as part of an all-Saab formation.

That was the reason, I guess!
(Although I would have loved to have Robert pick his brains figuring this one out :lol: It took me some seconds to realise the SAAB 32 was not there myself.)
It reminds me of the Blandgrupp of the 1980´s. A mixed fomation of Draken, Viggen, Lansen and Sk-60 that displayed during airshows.
