REQ.: question about repetition courses in Meiringen

Post by Dysko »

Hi,
I've read on the Scramble Intelligence Service that from 16-04 to 11-05 in Meiringen there will be a repetition course for FliegerStaffeln 8 and 11.
What can I expect if I go there? Does that mean there will be an increase in flying activity? Will they fly during week-ends?
Thanks in advance for your info! :)

Hi there - first I want to thank you for visiting Switzerland ! :welcome:

Second - no, most of the Swiss Air Force is sleeping in between Friday 1700h and Monday 1000h ! No QRA, only a Super Puma ready for SAR-Duties.

What can you expect during Repetition Course: Flight activity is increased to normal days - and without the normal Lunch-Break from 1200-1330h. That means full activity is possible from 0800-1800h :)):
 Some restrictions to the above: in week 16 (16.04.- 20.04.2012) there is only reduced activity (for saving activity for the Repetition Course) - so maybe only two waves then four during normal activity.
Week 17 and 18: Repetition course like I wrote, with Night flying on 30.04.12 (Reserve 01.05) and 07.05.12 (Reserve 08.05.)

You can have a look at the Official website of Meiringen Base - only in German but I think its readable.

Note: In Payerne are French Mirages and in Alpnach are two german CH-53 'till 27.04.12

Thank you for your info, Grimmi!
That's some great news! 25/04 is an Italian national holiday (liberation of Italy and end of WW2), and I have to pass near Alpnach to go to Meiringen :D I'll try to get those CH-53s too :)
