Frisian Flag 2012: Spotting during the weekend (easy!)

Post by Sonny1 »

Just back from Leeuwarden and everything is visible from outside (even readable).

- The north side (6x F-16 PolAF, 6x Typhoon RAF & 6x EF-2000 GAF) can easily be seen from the 'spotters hill'.
From the same spot also the 8 Swedish JAS-39s are visible (parked tarmac South 3).

N 53 12 59.6, E 5 44 12.9 (spotters hill)

- From the southern crash gate the 6 Finnish Hornets are visible between the buildings (parked tarmac South 2)

N 53 13 3.4, E 5 45 11.1 (crash gate, Poptawei)

- Finally, the 10 Norwegian F-16s (and Finnish Hornets and a few Swedish Gripens) can be seen from the main road (parked tarmac south 1).
(in parking order: 659, 289, 291, 670, 667, 681, 295, 663, 277 and 299)

N 53 13 10.6, E 5 43 45.6 (main road Bitgumerdijk).

Not satisfied yet, from N 53 12 52.7, E 5 45 38.7 7 Norwegian F-16s can be seen between the buildings/hangars (only 6 aircraft are readable from here, being 670, 667, 681, 295, 277 and 299).

No BAF or RNLAF F-16s spotted (all parked in shelters).

Good luck!

Hello all,

i can confirm.

Also spot-2 Tjessingawal (Scrambleguide) offers a nice overview of the Northern line.
All English Typhoon codes can be read-off.

--snip--
From the same spot also the 8 Swedish JAS-39s are visible (parked tarmac South 3).
--snip--

Near the Fire Station of Marsum there's a foothpath. From here it is possible to read 7 Gripen's
Can anyone confirm that 39225 is the first in line seen from Marsum side? Thanks.

Cheers,
Jan.

See report of Joost of Saterday, except the Finnish Hornet HN-427 was not on the line but the HN-453 was!
