Over the past few weeks my girlfriend and me went on holiday to the UK, or the Lake District and Scotland to be more precise. Besides the great scenic views and some common attractions, we also tried to photograph some of the local wildlife. I was very happy with some of the catches shown below.
Hope you like them just as much as I do.
Cheers,
Iwan
1. A wild sea eagle is about to grab lunch from the sea near Portree.
2. A dolphin hunting for fish in the sea near Fortrose. This photo was taken from the beach!
3. A formation flight of two puffins, each with a beak full of fish.
4. Puffins have their burrows underground. This one is waiting for a safe moment to bring fish to its young.
5. Puffin on final approach to its burrow.
6. It seems like a gentle gliding flight, but actually the puffin flaps its wings very fast.
7. If there’s enough fish for the birds, there may also be plenty of fish for the seals.
8. No, not puinguins or nuns, but just common guillemots (zeekoetjes)
9. It’s not always necessary to travel for miles and miles to see some wildlife. This red squirrel was shot from the window of our holiday cottage.
