PICS: new Chinese fighter sighted on highway

Post by P.Terlouw »

A big discussion on Chinese blogs is going on when photos appeared of what seems a new experimental airframe being transported by heavy transport to the Shaanxi Expirimental Facility. It seems to be a twin-engined fighter which is smaller than the currently tested J-20. Also references to the mysterious crash last year (see http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php? ... hina+crash ) is talking point.

The Shaanxi Experimental Facility is used for ground tests of new and experiamental airframes.

Here are the pics:

Hmmm ... my first thought was a copy of a Yak-130 lookalike (only 20% bigger) 8)

This new jets keeps fascinating the Chinese people and there was even a public discussion with experts on national TV channel CCTV4. They suggested the mock-up of the AVIC F-60 as shown on the 2008 Zhuhai Airshow is starting to materialize. AVIC is the name of AViation Industry China which houses most aircraft factories in China.

Here is a pic of that mock-up F-60

I understand the CCTV people were amused they had to take the info from foreign media. It is believed the F-60 is the export designation of the new SAC J21 which is expected to fly this September. with the static test airframe being torn apart at Xi'an, 1800 km's away from birthplace Shenyang.

See Scramble 399 for some more details (as taken from foreign media)

Wow, so the Chinese have built imitations of both the F-23 (J-20) and F-22 (J-21)...?

then it was a very small truck moving it, or a very big chair behind that mock-up....... it is a 3 meter long scale model.
