Mosquito KA114 returns to the skies

Post by Erik_7Xi »

Mosquito KA114 has been restored by AvSpecs in Auckland, New Zealand, to fully flyable condition.
They have been working on the Mosquito since 2004.

The warbird made its first flight, as a fully restored aircraft, on 28 September 2012 and is expected to appear on New Zealand airshows this year already.

After its only airshow demo in New Zealand, the "Mossie" will soon be on its way to its owner in the USA who had paid for the rebuild in New Zealand.

Small update - the owner has been persuaded to let the Mossie stay in NZ until January 2013 so it can partake in the Wings Over Wairarapa Airshow at Masterton aerodrome.

Scheduled for 19-20 January, this airshow at the small airport of Masterton provides great access to the static and display aircraft - it is also one of the very few airshows in the world where the display line is not straight, but a dog-leg curve around the viewing area. (There is a 45 degrees turn in the static line and the various warbirds take the turn at very low level... something that wouldn't ever be allowed in the EU where everything is forbidden anyway! )
