10th TRW special markings?

Post by prinses »

Hey guys,

Anybody know anything about these red and white checkered markings on these 10th TRW RF-4s? Were these applied for a longer period of time or for a special event or something? Anybody any clues?

Thanks,

Vincent

Maybe related to the U.S. BiCentennial celebrations in the 1970's? See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Bicentennial There were several USAF planes which sported similar markings. I have seen photo's of F-15's also with these markings.

good morning. This picture was taken mids June 1973 at florennes during a recce Meeting. Therefor specials on the PHANTOMS.
By the way I am busy with a project on the 66-0426 AR which has been there too. It crashed in August that year in the Lauwersmeer without the markings. I am trying to get pictures on this bird!. Please help me it would be great!

Great stuff, thanks.
Looked for some info on the 66-0426 in my personal "archive", but came up empty. Sorry.
