Russian exercised attacking Sweden

Last Eastern trained Russia attacking Sweden. Goals were two military installations in Stockholm and southern Sweden.

Two Tu-22 and 4 Su-27 steaming from St Petersburg and Finnish Bay on Baltic. They split in two groups. Normally are Russian military going downwards against Kaliningrad.

No Swedish fighters were available. Two danish fighters scrambled from Baltic and followed the Russian planes.

Cold war are back?

Same situation in February against Japan radar station and US military station in Pacific.

The part where the Russians exercise to attack Sweden is not the most worisome part if you ask me. The part where Sweden has no fighters available to intercept them.... that sounds like a real issue....

Maybe resurrecting F16 at Uppsala would be a smart idea?

The Flygvapnet has a permanent detachment (F17G) at Visby, Gotland. These should be able to keep the military traffic between Saint Petersburg and Kalinigrad away from Stockholm and the mainland..

There were no Swedish fighters available. All pilots were off and eating eastern eggs. No planes at Visby, Kallinge, Såtenäs, or other places.

There has been a very political hot situation today that the Swedish military only can handle a military intervention in 30 minutes. The military commander were off several months because of political pressure on him.

Much info in all Swedish newspapers and other media.

It was that we in Sweden call a "drev", orange clockwork situation.

Most of the ordinary Swedish people think it is best to join the NATO, but the left and environmental greens rejects.

PLANES SURPRISED NIGHT TIME DURING EASTERN.

1.Two Russian bombers of type Tu-22M3 Backfire escort by four Su-27 over Finnish Bay in international air.

2. Instead to as usual take left in the middle of Baltic Sea they turn right över northern Gotland.

3. 02:00 over Gotska Sandön cirka 35km from Swedish border performs the Russians the exercise. The bomb goals lays in Stockholm and Southern Sweden (info taken from Sigint against the intruders).

4. Nearest Swedish Air force bases are F7 i Såtenäs and F17 in Ronneby, but Sweden have no Gripen ready. Not even Visby on Gotland had no Gripen to Scramble.

5. NATO scramble two danish F16 fighters from Siaullai in Latvia and shadowing the intruders from distance.

6. The Russian intruders returns the same way they come from.

Interesting drawing! Also wonder what the Finnish airforce was doing? On the other hand it puts the story of the Danes being able to scramble two F-16's into a different light, as them being the NATO responsibles at Sauliau. So we can say that part worked well. So just another test of our defenses by the Russians but I can imagine a few people in Sweden are scratching their heads!

Good test I would say. Both for the Russians (they now know when to attack) and for the Swedes.... Although indeed, the Swedes might not be so happy with it all.
By the way, resurrecting F16 in Uppsala would indeed not have helped here. Especially when seeing the route of the Russians.

Hmm I believe that the distance from Gotland or Uppsala to point 2 and 3 on the drawing will be about the same. It does show however that Stockholm is rather unprotected in the Swedish defense plans.

According information today were the goals for the simulated attack two Swedish CAOC (Control Air Operations Centers).
Named Bålsta (Stockholm area) and Hästveda (Southern Sweden). One of them are placed on the bottom of a sea.

They are planned to be withdrawn and are back up by other primary systems. Several radar control centers are today automated.

In Mikael Holmströms book den dolda alliansen (hidden alliance) are they integrated or premade and connected to NATO.s CAOCs (2011).

The Russian 2 Tu-22M3 and 4 Su-27 were followed by the new A-50U.

They tried to jam the Swedish CAOCS and Swedish radar stations.

Sweden use near the same radars as US aircraft carriers.

According the sources were the radars jammed.

A closed Swedish parlament meeting this morning to discuss it.
