Romorantin activiteiten?

Post by Canberra TT.18 »

Hallo,

DG-300 PL31 Luchtkadetten
DG-505 PL43 Luchtkadetten

Weather was horrible. All was inside in the hangar or inside their trailers (as you can see in the above overview). Another 2 D.140s should arrive, but it was unclear if these VFR flights would take place. When we were about to leave when C.101 493 arrived from Saintes inside a trailer. Flying would start on Tuesday but as far as I can see, no competition has taken place yet due to the weather. Normally the National Air takes place in june, but this time it was decided to have it earlier on the agenda due to the fact that vegitation is less grown in this month. This makes outside landings more easy.

Jeroen

Hi Jeroen,

Did you note any preserved gliders in the hangars? Did note some hanging on the backwalls two years ago but couldn't read them off ofcourse from landing and aeroclub.

cheers,

Per

Posted my log here here then, was a a bit longer ago than I thought. Time flies.

http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=52844

Went to Romorantin-Pruniers (BA273) (LFYR) on 29 july 2009.
Had a look at the east side approach (runways 23L and 23R) and at the aeroclub. (spots 1 and 2 at Scramble airfieldguide: see page 75).

Here's a quick log:
297/UG MD450 preserved barracks (north of D724 road) This one can be photographed very easy.
Mirage 3R 331/33-NE preserved near gate base

Seen taking off/landing at runway 23R were:

Civvies seen taking off/landing at runway 23L were:
HB-3267
HB-3287/DL
HB-3315/M
F-GFTY
F-CFKV/T75
F-CGGA/GA

Near aeroclub:
F-BPAU PLATFORM
F-AZNV HANGAR
F-CHKB /KB HANGAR
F-CGUV/722 HANGAR
F-CGAN
and many I didn't write down because I was lucky to catch a ride (flight

Preserved inside hangars at military side:
20109/X10 Schleicher ASW-20FL preserved hangar
(read the 10 off myself but confirmation on this one but also be appreciated)
(Scramble database says last noted june 2008)

And there were some more preserved and lying or hanging at side and back of walls inside the two large open hangars.
I think the ones on the back walls are the Wassmer WA22 and WA30. These look quite big.

Can any one confirm these gliders as still being present?
142/J38 Janus C (Scramble database says last noted may 2008)

Wassmer WA22 138/SB (Scramble database says last noted june 2008)
Wassmer WA30 159/GE (Scramble database says last noted june 2008)
JP15/36A 1/P01 (Scramble database says last noted june 2008)
Caproni A21S 221/M (Scramble database says last noted june 2008)

TIA for any updates/corrections. Hope this log is of help to others.

Hi Jeroen,

Where the hangars open? Or did you enter the hangars (with permission)?

Hello Per,

Yes we did. There are two hangars HM29 and HM30 which are used for the gliders and their tuggs. If you look from the aeroclub the left one is 29 the right hand one, closest to the tower, is number 30. Hangar 29 is split in two parts while 30 is only one part only.

Hangar HM30 has three preserved gliders inside:
At the back of the hangar on the wall, is only one half of a fuselage of ASW.20F with tailnumber 10 (nose pointing right). This most definately is not the X10, as this one was seen in a trailer at a compound at the back of the hangar by us on the same day. As it was in a trailer, we were unable to check it's c/n. Also http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1253122/ has a picture of it flying, which confirms our sighting.

On the righthand side hanging on the wall nose pointing down is Issoire/CARMAM JP.15/36AR Aiglon marked P-01.

On the lefthand side of this hangar is a Caproni Vizzola A.21S Calif coded M. This should be c/n 221. It's positioned on top of the offices it's nose pointing slightly downwards.

Hangar HM29 has two preserved gliders inside:
Lefthand side of this hangar has Wassmer WA22A Super Javelot serial/cn 138 and coded SB. This one is hanging at the back of the hangar nose down.
Righthand side has a Wassmer WA30 Bijave 159 coded GE. This one is also hanging at the back of the hangar nose down.

Jeroen

…/VR DG505 Anyone for its serial?????
Should be c/n 5E-235X73 a Glaser-Dirks DG505 Elan Orion flying with CVVAA 21.535 coded VR (see also our report)

Preserved inside hangars at military side:
20109/X10 Schleicher ASW-20FL preserved hangar
(read the 10 off myself but confirmation on this one but also be appreciated)
See my comments on the other message regarding preserved gliders inside the hangars.

142/J38 Janus C (Scramble database says last noted may 2008)
Not seen by us, and also not last couple of years so I guess it's gone.

Wassmer WA22 138/SB (Scramble database says last noted june 2008)
Wassmer WA30 159/GE (Scramble database says last noted june 2008)
JP15/36A 1/P01 (Scramble database says last noted june 2008)
Caproni A21S 221/M (Scramble database says last noted june 2008)
Seen also my previous comments on the preserverd ones.

All hangars were visited together with the commanding officer (so yes with permission). Hangar HM30 was open when we arrived. The right hand side of HM29 was opened for us to take better pictures of the D140s.

Jeroen
