The reduction of the pax numbers between AMS and LHR could also be a result of the European financial crisis and is not neccessarily due to a new LHR-RTM market as suggested.XYZ wrote:On 9 December 2012 BA opened the route LHR-RTM-LHR 3x/day with A319/320 aircraft.
The question is....How is this route performing and what competitive impact does it have on LCY-RTM, LHR-AMS, LCY-AMS and other routes.
Here are the data from the UK Civil Aviation Authority for passengers carried in Dec 2012 and Jan - Febr. 2013.
BA on LHR-RTM-LHR:
- Dec. 2012 = 5.962 or on average 45 pax/flight
- Jan. 2013 = 6.392 or on average 36 pax/ flight
- Febr. 2013 = 7.139 or on average 42 pax/flight
CityJet on LCY-RTM-LCY:
- Dec. 2012 = 7.892 or on average 22 pax/flight (9.289 pax in 2011)
- Jan. 2013 = 7.446 or on average 21 pax/flight (8.729 pax in 2012)
- Febr. 2013 = 8549 or on average 22 pax/flight (9.805 pax in 2012)
LHR-AMS-LHR:
- Dec. 2012 = 119.670 (123.288 pax in 2011) This indicates that BA is stealing pax. from its own AMS flights, as well as from KLM.
- Jan. 2013 = 99.713 (105.963 pax in 2012) This indicates that BA is stealing pax. from its own AMS flights, as well as from KLM.
- Febr. 2013 = 98.671 (105.524 pax in 2012) This indicates that BA is stealing pax. from its own AMS flights, as well as from KLM.
LCY-AMS-LCY:
- Dec. 2012 = 27.429 (30.655 pax in 2011) Remember easyJet is very successful on SEN-AMS-SEN which is new and competes as well.
- Jan. 2013 = 27.180 (30.218 pax in 2012) Remember easyJet is very successful on SEN-AMS-SEN which is new and competes as well.
- Febr. 2013 = 28.560 (31.381 pax in 2012) Remember easyJet is very successful on SEN-AMS-SEN which is new and competes as well.
It is up to you to determine whether BA is being successful on its new route LHR-RTM, as yields could be terrific! Who knows?
So loadfactor now around 50 %. That's not too bad. It still needs to grow.Backtrack wrote:Again a good plus for april:
