I allready wanted to make travel plans but with so few things confirmed I'll wait a few more weeks. Is it normal that so few participants are confirmed this early in the year (I know operational demand varies all the time) but still......
I always say a boy can learn more at an airport than at any school.

I think normally far less is known already at this time.

The situation in the USA seems to be a confirmation that many USAF/USN aircraft will NOT attend. Expect to see a much emptier static than usual at RIAT! Unless things in the USA turn around soon....
Well my two cents, but if US participation makes all the difference at a RIAT, its even a worse show than I thought.. Come on people. There are loads of other interesting airforces who can make a RIAT worthwhile.
I agree that participation from the USAF usually doesnt make or break a RIAT, but considering what has been confirmed so far, it certainly does'nt help. Right now there is nothing that makes me want to go to RIAT this year...
I thought those US cancellations were already known for a while. I'm afraid this RIAT is gonna be one of the poorest ever. *sigh*, twenty years ago they had the best airshow I've ever attended:
Let's hope they will find enough funding and participants for something good in 2014.
I planned to shoot landing shots wed-fri before the RIAT. At GE I see there is no space to park cars at both runway ends. Anybody been there before and has a solution? (other than suggesting use of bike or public transport)??

For arrival days I wouldn't suggest public transport. If you don't have your own transport, take a taxi (if they want to get you there, my experiences are around showtime a lot of drivers turn these rides down, if someone takes you there: make use of the opportunity to make arrangements to be picked up at the end of the day) or scrub the idea of going. If you are interested in a timetable: http://www.swindonbus.info/tts/074.htm but mind it takes a bit of a walk from and to a busstop from the airfield.

There must be parking place close to the field for the spotters who attend the spectators area at the airfield.
And if not you can park for 5 pound a day at the Fly By campsite at Whelford road close by the head of the runway and only a 15 minutes walk away.
Usually parking isn't a problem !!.

Thanks for the reply but this was not what I was looking for ...
