Winnipeggers will get a glimpse back in time this week with the arrival of Sentimental Journey, a B-17 bomber from World War II. The aircraft will be on display at the Western Canada Aviation Museum for the next seven days.
Sentimental Journey flew in the Pacific theatre during the war and is being brought in by the Arizona wing of the Commemorative Air Force. The aircraft will arrive with a fully trained flight crew, including two pilots, who will answer questions about how the B-17 works and what its role was in the war.
B-17s were used in every theatre of the war, notably to bomb European targets. The bomber is one of only two in North America that are still airworthy.
