Will be visiting Tokyo in November. Mainly civil, but have, if time permitting, Iruma on the agenda too. I have some questions though...
Is there a map available on the net pointing out the various spotting and photography locations?
What are the best days to visit Iruma?
When does the activity start?
Are the YS11 and all it's variants, as they are the main goal of the visit, still based at Iruma?
I will have a 3 or 4 step ladder and car at my disposal.
I have only been there once, and by train, and only to one spot. So not too much info, but this spot is very good: 35.850934N, 139.408005E
It gives you a fine overview of the base and the platforms and good photo opportunities. There is even a small stand on which you can sit and stand to get a clear view over the fence.
Again, not that much info, but hopefully a start for you.

P.S. bring earplugs, as those C-1s really blow up your ears!
1. A small steps at the North-East point of the Iruma A.B. was removed.
So you need your own steps(about 60-120cm high).
2. They starts the engines at about 0730am, so you can see their taxing at about 0745am.
The flight end at about 1630pm. There are no flight on Saturday and Sunday.
(Further, No Flight on Nov.4th. this year. It is holiday in Japan.)
3. YS-11FC/EA/EBs are still based at Iruma. But they often go to the other bases.
4. In the winter season(about Oct. to Feb.), the wind blows mainly from the North.
