H-34 and Alouette 2 at Rheine Bentlage

Post by Stephan Lodewijks »

* Last Thursday I saw a Alouette 2 without serial in the south-west old dispersal area. Its windscreen was broken. This helicopter is visible on Google Earth.
* Also, I saw a H-34 without its nose engine under an open shed in the northeast area. It was one of those sheds that are used to park support vehicles and ground equipment.

Does anyone know the identity of these helo's?

Thanks in advance,

Stephan

Only H-34 known to be at Rheine (afaik) would be the 80+35 but that was preserved and thus one would expect that the engine covers would be closed and therefor one could not tell whether the engine was still installed or not.
Rheine also has a number of Alouette 2's: 4 instructional (75+12, 76+61, 76+93 and 76+95), 1 preserved at the main gate (75+32), and one dumped (77+18 / 37). Afaik they all wear a serial but this could, ofcourse, have been removed.
I know this is not the answer you look for, but it might narrow down the number of candidates...

The H-34 was under restoration in 2011 and this is how it was present at the open day that year: http://jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=7183289&nseq=2

Thanks both, you're helpful!

The H-34 in the 2011 pic is exactly the way 'my' H-34 looked last Thursday.

Thanks,

Stephan

There is only one H-34 in Rheine, the 80+35.

The Al. 2 that is stored in the SW-area (near the Lehrwerkstatt) was always 77+18, and it should be still. 77+18 does not were a serial anymore and has a broken window.

Eric, that is the confirmation I was looking for. I have my serials of my little trip complete now, thanks.
