I can understand why titles and logos are painted over.
An official is also mentioning to the press that it is also being done to protect
Star Alliance and their members/partners, if that is the case why is the Star Alliance
logo not painted over
The blacking out of logos after a crash is an old story, it has been done tons of times before. The stupid thing here is, they actually used black paint which made it very visibible - and so it backfired.
Painting out logos and titels is always done in these cases.
We recognize the colors and can match it with an airline, but the general public can not.
The only reason why this is getting so much attention in the media, is because these so called journalists simply translate any story they see and publish it, without any fact checking what so ever. One bad journalist saw the picture and without doing any research wrote an article based on a single photo, and the others soon followed.
The usual procedure in England was to spin it to the press as the location, thus the xxx accident was forever referred to as the "Manchester" accident where an Airtours 737 caught fire, possibly aggravated by a pervailing wind, or the xxx incident where the "M1" embankment collided with a BMI 737. Not to mention, of course, "Lockerbie". No reference to, or anything to do with the manufacturer, or type of a/c (nor the airlines concerned). Unfortunately, this probably won´t work this time as Suvarnabhumi is a bit harder to relate to, Thai is easier for us westerners. If only Aérospatiale-BAC had the same spin doctors we might still be flying Concorde, even after the "Paris" incident.
The only trouble with doing this in this day and age is long before the painters have arrived photos have appeared all over the social media showing the full titles and logo.
TH received another roasting in today's Bangkok Post,
Funny that Thai is roasting Airbus about the landing gear... I haven't heard anything from KLM or Northwest (now Delta) having troubles with the gears... but then again, maybe there were problems which I don't know about
Just my 2 cents
