Russia performed a Zapad exersice during the end of September 2013with 70000 soldiers comming from Russian and White Russian. This is the largest exercise in Baltic since 1989. A lot more use of soldiers then stated by official Russia.
The mission with the exercise were to start a military action against the baltic states and Poland. The formal reason were ethnics unrust. But in ethnics unrest are not military very hard weapons type Tu-95, Tu-160 and nukes used against small soft targets.
During a phase were 5 Hellducks (Su-34) based at Chernyakovsk.
I shall later explain the info about Zapad-2013. Especially used air power. This time followed often by Swedish recce.
A very new topic is the UAV use with real fighters as MiG-29SMT. MiG29-SMT flew in packs with UAV in fronts of them, were UAV were used in the first phase, and MiG-29SMT in the second phase.
Soon are the NATO own Exercise starting in the Baltic contries.
