Some additional information;
4x MQ-9B Reapers will be stationed with 306sq (indeed, the former F-16 reconnaissance squadron last based at Volkel AFB) and be stationed at Leeuwarden AFB.

So, MinDef has chosen the Reaper but I suppose this is still to be decided upon by parliament?

Read the pdf at the bottom of the page and you will see how much problems they have to overcome to fly with the Reaper in NL and the budget for the project is also not high enough.

Hmmm, interesting; everybody is already celebrating while the deal hasn't even being signed (as indeed, the PDF explains). A final decision can be expected in 2015 after further studies will bring their results :?

Btw, same situation counts for the F-35 purchase :twisted:

Well, it was designed to fly recce missions. At a certain stage the military saw the value (and technical possibilities) of arming them with Hellfires. So, it's probably just a configuration thing and apparently the RNLAF aims to start with unarmed missions.
