Spotting Info: Hotel Leo, C`an Pastilla, Majorca Dec 2013

Post by ScottishSpotter »

I stayed at the Hotel Leo in C`an Pastilla last weekend. The hotel doesn`t get much in the way of comments from spotters as most will head for the Linda or Helios. I didn`t have a choice in the matter as the latter are both closed for winter.

I wouldn`t hesitate to recommend the Leo for spotting purposes. Rooms 541-549 are ideal and I expect 441-449 would also be suitable. Anything lower and the view would be more restricted. For box users the sockets are near to the balcony doors in room 543 and I expect this is the case for other rooms.

The hotel is at the 06R end, here is the view of runway 06R/24L http://flic.kr/p/i6CgBB and this is the GA apron http://flic.kr/p/i5Looe
If landing 24L aircraft can be read off vacating at this time of year and some can be read off on the GA apron day & night depending on how they are parked. I expect heat haze could be a problem in the summer months.
Aircraft landing 06L can be seen rolling out after touchdown albeit the top half mostly.

As for the hotel my only gripe was the food not being hot enough at times. This seems to be a common theme in the various hotels I`ve stayed at on the island of which some were 4*.
Wi-fi is available for 6€ per 24hrs. Car parking is chargeable but there`s plenty free parking on the surrounding streets.

As to be expected there`s not a great deal of aircraft variety at this time of year. Most days around 10 Air Berlin(inc HB- & OE-)arrive 1315-1400 and the same ones come back early evening from the likes of Seville, Ibiza & Jerez before returning to Germany & beyond.

Cheers
