What is a good scanner nowadays?

Post by hdehaan »

Hi there,
My old PRO-2042 scanner has passed away and I want to look for a new one. Anyone who can give me advice what is a good scanner nowadays?
In my old scanner I had an extra board installed with a RS-232 plug so I could connect it with my pc. Is this also possible with the current scanners?
Thanks in advance.

Greetings,
Hans

Most of the new scanners can be plugged in by USB or Serial plug which you usually have to buy seperately depending on the scanner model,Is it just VHF,or VHF/UHF, handheld portable or base and or Analog only Analog/Digital,so you have to take all that in consideration!

I guess it depends on what you want, a table scanner or a handheld scanner.
Most modern scanners do have us usb portal nowadays.
Compromise is failure.

As the PRO-2042 is a base station, i recommend http://www.jbe.nl > 'snelzoek' BCT-15X. (can be used in the car as well).

The Uniden Bearcat BCT-15X is shown at Youtube many times.

Same for me, I am using the good old Yupiteru MVT-7100. Great scanner, although you have to program it by hand. My basescanners are 4 UBC780XLT's, wich can be programmed by computer.
