Australia orders P-8 Poseidon

Australia has ordered 8 P-8A Poseidon aircraft to complement/replace their Orions. The deal also includes options for 4 more and deliveries start in 2018. source

18 as far as I know, so it really remains to be seen of this order will completely replace them all. Besides, the order was also linked to the growing naval threat from China (especially their new carriers), which may indicate Australia will actually increase their maritime patrol capabilities.

As read on in the ADF-serials forum, the P-8 will not seen as a P-3 replacement in the first place, but additional aircraft. It's true some P-3's would leave the fleet, most of them will continue flying besides the P-8. So a nice mix of P-3's and P-8 in future
