Yes, but AFAIK there are no attack helicopters based there. Or should I say WERE?
Edit: does anyone know whether the Russian AF has dedicated base(s) in the Crimea? I am only aware of the Russian Navy Su24's at Gvardenskoje (near Simferopol)
Were is a helicopter base with helicopters without rotor blades close to the 810 marine infantry unit on the south west part of Sevastapol naval base. Around 20-30 helicopters on place.
The 810 marine infantry brigade in the harbor has over 100 BTR APC and tanks. Certainly the BTR around the air bases comes from these unit. There is a tankdrom near it, with a large exercise area.
There is also naval spetsnaz and PDSS units in area. Some battalions is based on two bases in North Caucaus. Maybee the spetsnaz units were airlifted from Anapa with the 8 helicopters earlier this day to the Crimean air bases.
Several naval helicopters type Ka-27 and Ka-29 based at Kacha airfield.
The naval infantry were strengthened 26 february from Baltic with the Kaliningrad and one more amphibious ships.
Today has at least 11 loads with Il-76 been airshiped to the Gvardeysky air base. Certainly transported with airborne soldiers from 76 VDD (Pskov) or other base. They take over some BTR, as in Georgia (BMP-1). In Georgeia they acted with cowboy tactic.
The Mi-35 or Mi-24 comes from the air force army base in Rostov-on-Don. There is also a MVD air/helicopter regiment on the same base. The unit have many Mi-26. Another helicopters are based at Kornevo and Budyonnovsk. Plus spred out border troops and MVD helicopter units. Mi-24 and Mi-35 are produced by Rostov in Rostov-on-Don.
Maybee a Russian corps headquarters are set up in Anapa area.
