Press release, Paris 4th June 2013:
A preparatory meeting (Initial Planning Conference) for next years “Green Shield” which will take place in 2014, and was held on 22nd and 23rd May 2013 at CDAOA (commander of the air defense and air operations) on the basis of Balard in Paris, in the presence of a Saudi delegation.
Since its first edition in 2007, the year Franco-Saudi air-air “Green Shield” is biennial. This part of the activity of bilateral cooperation between the French Air Force and Royal Saudi Air Force. In 2012, the year which included acomponent air-ground missions with type Close Air Support (CAS – Close Air Support), took place in Saudi airspace. But at the next edition in 2014, Saudi Arabia will visit France. The Exercise “Green Shield” is intended to result in air combat fighter pilots of the two countries.
In April 2014, Saudi F-15 Eagle fighter planes and more than twenty French aircraft will be engaged for the exercise at Air Base 133 Nancy-Ochey. Thus, 16 French fighters (ten Mirage 2000, four Rafale and two Alphajets) evolve alongside six Saudi F-15′s. To complete the French air device, E-3F and two Caracal helicopters participating in the exercise.
The exact date of this exercise is unknown, i only know that it will be held in April 2014.
I don't know if there will be hold an spottersday or something.
When i read the information about this exercise into 2009, there was an media day.
We have to wait for more information about this exercise.
Who can confirm the date for this exercise to be right ? saturday 29-03-2014/thursday 17-04-2014.
Can't find info to confirm this on the web, nor can i find info on whether or not there will be a spottersday.
In the SIS summary at this messageboard above exercise is mentioned with participating of six RSaudiAF F-15s. A start date March 29 is mentioned as this is on Saturday... Although these information is known already since a few months no recent info/updates could be found on the net.
I am curious of there any updates available because the exercise should start within two weeks....

Be aware, Saturday 29 March is not necessarily a flying day. See for example Frisian Flag and TLP (both exercises start - according this overview - at a sunday)

Anyone's guess, but 09.00 to 10.00 for the AM and 13.00 to 14.00 for the PM is most likely.
In the past there have been issues with the Gendarmerie at this base. They may be active with large numbers of people that will no doubt be around LFSO in the coming weeks.
