Orders thread 2014

Post by ehusmann »

To my surprise there wasn't one yet for 2014, so here is a start....

Kuwait Airways finally decided on getting new planes. Airbus is the winner with orders for 15 A320neo, 10 A350-900 and options for 5 of each. Delivery of these will start in 2019. In addition Kuwait AW will also lease 7 A320 and 5 A330, starting this December.

More info on Yahoo.

Interesting quote from that article:
It [Kuwait Airways] has posted losses in all but one of the past 21 years

Doha (AFP) - Air New Zealand said on Sunday that it has ordered 14 medium-range Airbus planes, valued at $1.5 billion according to list price.

The order by New Zealand's flag carrier includes three A321neo, 10 A320neo and one A320, said the airline's chief Christopher Luxon at a conference in the Qatari capital.

The neo units will be delivered between 2017 and 2019, while the classic A320 will be supplied early next year, he said on the sidelines of the general assembly of the International Air Transport Association.

Ryanair orders up to 200 197-seat 737 Max jets

Irish budget carrier Ryanair is ordering up to 200 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, which will be configured with a higher-density seat layout ( "cattle class", i.e. (almost) no leg room... )
unveiled by the airframer earlier this year.

Ryanair is ordering 100 firm aircraft and placing options on another 100, the carrier says. The jets will be fitted with 197 seats.

The airline will take delivery of the jets – branded as the ‘Max 200’ – from 2019 to 2024.

The 737-800 has a maximum capacity of 189 seats and Ryanair had expressed strong interest in a 200-seat version of the re-engined Max 8.

Boeing revealed during the Farnborough air show in July that it would offer such an aircraft, through modifications to the exit-door arrangement.
