Lagos Wednesday 26th March 2014 plus Pictures

Post by superspotter »

Hi all;
Arrived back in Lagos this afternoon for a two week stint. Well finally, the last Boeing 727 of Allied Air Cargo has now been withdrawn from use. 5N-JNR joined BMQ on the freight ramp. They have now started to dismantle BMQ with the nose cone and number two engine having parted company from the frame: https://www.flickr.com/photos/superspotter/13430982354/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/superspotter/13430948964/ This, to my knowledge leaves only one extant 727 operating in Nigeria, that being 5N-BNQ of Associated Aviation.
Meanwhile a Swiftair B734F has appeared in the shape of EC-MAD: https://www.flickr.com/photos/superspotter/13430718233/
This machine is ex-EI-STE of Air Contractors, I was speaking with one of their captains a few weeks back and he was not happy that one of their aircraft was leased to their competitors. Allied Air Cargo are apparently awaiting a third 734F currently under conversion in the states so I assume once that arrives then the Swiftair example will return to Europe. Saying that, I was speaking with the Swiftair captain today and he said that there is another B734F destined to replace EC-MAD here in Africa but he didn’t mention the registration.
Lastly, one decent movement a while ago was 166715 US Marine Corps Ce560, unusual visitor here. I will post a full log in a day or two when I have been here for more than a few hours.

Regards clive.
