Boeing has rolled out Air New Zealand's (ANZ) first Boeing 787-9, with the aircraft sporting a new all-black livery and the country’s official fern mark.

The carrier will be the variant's first operator, says Boeing.

The 787-9 can carry up to 40 more passengers an additional 300 nautical miles (555km) over the 787-8.

The debut route for the 787-9 will be Auckland-Perth later this year.

Air New Zealand has 10 Boeing 787-9s on order.
