KC-130H-30 ex USMC to USN

Post by Le Addeur noir »

In recent weeks (former) KC-130Ts 164597 and 164598 both still marked as NY-xxx of VMGR-452 have been seen in the Far East using CNVxxxx callsigns.

164597 has been photographed at Kadena with it's refuelling tanks removed.

Just for the record, if you do a quick search on A.net you can see this bird is most often seen without the refuelling pods: pics.
Not sure about the callsign, but the removal of the pods doesn't mean a thing.

the use of CNV callsigns could well be a significant indication these 2 airplanes are no longer operated by the USMC.

There has been a recent delivery of a KC-130J-30 (168073) to the USMC and another is on order. These airplanes may have displaced 164597 and 164598 from the USMC to the USN.

164598 was in lossiemouth during joint warrior earlier this year wearing 'US NAVY' on sponsons and 'RU' tailcode,so looks like its been transferred to Point Mugu.
