Russia improve air defence in Western District with much improved radar equipment before 2020.
Some of the radars is tested against F-35 type equipment. The testing is performed from testing ground west of Niznhy Novgorod. Near the production plant of MiG-29 and MiG-31.
IINNRT testing poligon is placed N 56/17 W 43/44. Nizhny Novgorod – Sormovo.
The area has newly get several more hardened areas for radar testing. Mirror the great expand research on area. The polygon is just south of the MiG-31 production plant and landing base.
Were is also a new Mi-8 on site, and a old Mi-26. Both must be used with testing new radars.
Several other plants in area have masts for radar research. Australian Kopp have interested info in area.
Radar research is also performed north of Nizny Novgorod for long search radars. Later built in St Petersburg and Kaliningrad.
