Kieler Woche 2014

Post by Sonny1 »

On our way home from the Tiger Meet we heard on the local radio that the USS Mount Whitney was docked in Kiel for the Kieler Woche.
We tried our luck and found HSC-28 MH-60S (167898)/BR-30 on deck. Also some Danish, German and UK vessels were seen, but no heli's on deck.

From outside the harbor it's too far away. I believe MT. Witney/ the harbor should be open for public (somewehere) this week (try Google and you will probably find this info).

One addition: The ship (and MH-60) is visible from the kanalstrasse (between the trees).

I was already wondering what the Naples C-26D was doing at Hohn, the presence of Mt Whitney in Kiel was probably the reason then. Mt Whitney normally sails from Gaeta (IT), the MH-60 is based at Naples when the ship is in port.
