Large Swedish fire fighting effort

Post by hammarö »

Sweden fire fight now a very large fire west of Stockholm.

Just now is around 10 helicopters fire fighting from air, of them two Hkp 10. Most of them are very small helicopters. Sweden forgot two equip the around 50 newly bought military helicopters with proper fire fighting equipment.

More efforts are on way from:
Spain 2 Bombardier 415
Italy 2 CL 415
France 4 unknown
Norway 2 helicopters

Over ground based fire fighting equipment is very modern technical equipment of different types.

They land around 21.00 on Västerås airfield, old air base F1. They are on the Flight Radar just south of Västerås.

We are looking after the Italians, but they should be water bombing tomorrow.

And the Spains are also very busy.

Today at 10.00 local 2 Italian CL415's are visible on FR24 in the area.
Looks like they departed Norrköping or somewhere in that area.
HEX codes are 300241 and 300244, last one shows callsign CAN15 which could be I-DPCV which is coded 15.

The Italians come from Kastrup after a night stop. The Italian planes are plan to water bomb during the middle if the day.

The French planes are planning for water bombing.

The Spanish planes were booked off.

Just now is it to smoky for flying. There is to high security risk for flying. No winds means the smoke is to heavy for the planes. The fire is very, very large. The planes mission is to hold down the fire. The people on ground are the real fire fighters. They are several hundreds who fire fights, and they are increasing. And with no winds is it easier to fire fight from ground, but very smoky.

The smoke is visible around a large part of Sweden.

With the conflict in Ukraine in mind is it very strange what people today fight each other year 2014. It is better to help each other in other problems with accidents like big fires and the fight with the environment.

This fire is the largest in Sweden since ever, and certainly one the largest in Europe.

If you are interested in aviation of fire fighting it is a special time to look at the news flew, and look around the Internet sides
www.svd.se
www.dn.se
www.aftonbladet.se
www.expressen.se

You can also get the special feeling of horror, then looking of the pictures with everything burnt down, and everything black. No life, no green and no animals.
The firefighters also use high technical equipment. Firefighters from whole Sweden participating.
A special military command from Livgardet, Kungsängen, Stockholm command all military resources as band waggons for command, transport, helicopters, other vehicles and home defence. Around 1000 persons work 24 hours with the fire fighting. Many with command and information.

Even allied aircraft participate. They are high appreciated.

Now there are 21 helicopters and 6 fixed wing performing fire-fighting and commanding and communications efforts,.
Russia asked to particpate with a Il-76 firefighter.
But there are already 4 fixed-wing fire fighters all releasing water every 3rd minute. Very impressive. Now heavy crowded and there are no place for 1 more heavy plane.
