Twelve F-15 fighter jets and 180 personnel from the 493rd Fighter Squadron, Royal Air Force, Lakenheath, are participating in a joint exercise with the Bulgarian military, Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren told reporters Monday.
Members from the 493rd will be stationed at Graf Ignatievo Air Base, Bulgaria, until Sept. 1.
The two-week exercise is a continuation of the U.S. and NATO’s steadfast commitment to regional security, Warren said.
Rotations are ongoing under Operation Atlantic Resolve, an effort to demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO allies and European partners in the midst of Russia’s repeated aggression toward Ukraine.
