Hi everybody,
sadly another airbase we can say goodbye to - yesterday was the flyout at Erding which means the airport is due to be closed permanently in the near future.
As it was said by officials, yesterdays movements should by the last flying activities at this base. This is pretty disappointing as Erding was one of the best german bases for spotters (taxiway and runway just a stone-throw away...). I still remember being there as a small boy when the german 104`s were flying with LVR1 before they were sold on or phased out. These were the years!!!
Over the decades it became more and more quiet here and in recent years it was just the Tornado overhaul which was done here. 45+61 was the last Tornado which received big overhaul here and departed yesterday.
A little joke was the fact that this Tornado got technical problems soonafter (some kind of hydraulic failure) and returned as an emergency after burning some fuel. So it seemed that at least the aircraft did not want to stop flying at Erding...
Here is a log what was seen on the last day (there was a small family day so several aircraft performed some displays).

The 46+08 must be 46+56 which left Manching with the 44+61 as "Shark01&02"
