EU allows use of (smart)phones in the air

Post by ehusmann »

Dutch only: http://www.nu.nl/internet/3888389/europ ... g-toe.html

Extract: The EU allows airlines to decide whether or not they allow the use of mobile (smart) phones in the air. It is up to the airline to determine if phone signals can interfere with aircraft instruments. If this is not the case, the airline may allow the use of the devices.

But.... water is still taken out of you handlugage. In other words, using the freaking phone is more important these days than water? What kind of cr*p is that?

I think you are right. More IED are fired by mobile than water.....

Before this new rule you already could bring your phone in the plane. in my eyes the only thing changed is that they can allow to let people use it to talk/app to other people/ social media. Using it for a IED was already possible before this new rule in my opinion. So nothing changed on that subject.

I understand....
But that's not my point.
When I can drink it, and therewith prove it is non-explosive, why not be able to bring in my water...?
I like my water more than my mobile in the plane.

My thoughts exactly. Just recently the US insisted on not allowing cell phones that cannot be turned on, for whatever reason, as it could be an IED, or trigger. Yet, water is out of the question at any time. Taking a sip before the eyes of the security guys is not enough either. So, are those stupid phones more important these days than water?

In the baseline you are correct Erwin, and i Agree with tou

However the article that is mentioned is about the use of mobile phones on board and the possible effect of the cockpit instruments of the aircraft, not about the use of mobile phones as IED etc. The ban of using mobile phones on board hase been imposed by a different party.

Where the use of phones is prohibited by a flying association (EASA), the regulations about bringing water and switch on your Phone while boarding is prohibited bij national governments, there for in this way it is "appels met peren vergelijken".

But, I agree with you, take a sip must be enough.
