Cobra 56 - Cobra Ball II 61-2663

Post by dinger »

A couple of shots of Cobra 56 from today. Didn't notice until I was editing my shots that it has mission marks on the crew door. 2 ballistic missile symbols.

One of many movements in stunning winter light. This was the obvious highlight though.

What I find interesting too is that on starboard side the engines are black and on the portside they're the (orginial) grey scheme.
Any info on that?

Evert,

Regarding your question, it has something to do with possible reflection from the wing while using the on-board camera's. Nowadays the Cobra Ball ll a/c have camera-windows on both sides of the fuselage, the Cobra Ball l only had camera-windows, larger round-ones, on the starboard side, hence the black wing and engines only on the starboard side to prevent reflection from the sunlight.
Hope my explanation answers your question.

Cheers,
Ranger
