In December last year Stratofreighter posted a link to a list of locations where Fedex B727s ended up after retirement (here).
A better look at that list showed it wasn't as accurate as one might think at first glance. It was already mentioned the locations were the 'official' locations of the institutions, not the actual location of the airframe. But even that turned out not to be entirely true. In many cases the airfield was just completely wrong. One B727 ended up in Turkey for example, in Eskisehir. But not at the military airbase as listed, but at the university airfield... Or not Lake Area in Wisconsin, but in South Dakota...
After quite some research I now found almost all exact locations though and put together a much more accurate list. On this list are 71 locations with a total of 74 ex-Fedex B727s. There are of course some questionmarks and also some locations where I already expect the aircraft to move on from. All those questionmarks are mentioned on the location pages.
Also, some are not (yet) on the list, with reason:
N102FE - was at Mobile AL, then moved to town to become restaurant, but was removed from there between 2008 and 2011, probably scrapped
N135FE - Northwest Arkansas Aviation Technology Center - was at Drake Field (not Northwest Arkansas Regional) since at least 2003. Can be seen on older images until 2006 when it looks like it is being dismantled and no longer visible from 2008. Either put in a school building since (location unknown), or scrapped.
N221FE - Beavercreek School System - is at the airport and will at some point be transported to Wright University Campus
N257FE - Chicago Fire Department - has arrived at Chicago O'Hare, but only recently and GE image doesn't show it yet
N467FE - University of Alaska - it is on the field, but no evidence where exactly and GE image is too old
N491FE - LA SWAT School Foundation - no mention of it anywhere
N492FE - Anchorage-Merril Field - it is on the field, but no evidence where exactly and GE image is too old
Complete list can be found on Spottingmode as a collection and can also be downloaded as a kmz file. Feel free to use as you like, including updating any databases.
