Waiting for departure from Moldova yesterday, I had the opportunity to catch a few interesting old style, soviet era transports.
Currently, there is a temporary free cars parking very well located to make pictures of the here-under AN-24's, an AN-12 (wrecked) and the IL-18d (this ones looks pretty nice and clean. But I don't think that it flies as it is parked at the same place for years). I also saw the remains of wings laying on the ground (maybe from an AN-24 - one of them crashed here a few years ago).
For the rest, planes are only visible from the tarmac, while going from the terminal to the plane (always by bus shuttle at Kishinev).
One AN-72 which looked in fair condition was parked next to the Il-18d (hidden by this one), but no pictures possible from outside the airport.
I also saw helicopters :
- 5 Mil Mi-8, looking in good and flyable condition, 4 of them painted in white, the 5th one blue and white, but all of them quite far from the airliners parking (visible nr. were ER-MGM, ER-MHY, ER-MG?, blue and white was ER-M?N),
- 2 Mil Mi-2, also looking good and flying (civil securtiy), painted orange and blue (too far and badly positionned for pictures).
For the rest some AN-24s in bad conditions, many beautifull Tu-134s (most of them wrecked or looking to be out of service with maybe one or two exceptions), one Yak-40 ("Moldova" and moldovan flag) and at least one wrecked Il-18. I'll open a subject under "wreckage" topics about them.
