Baltops starts 13 June in Baltic with NATO marine landing in southern Sweden with participation of US marines and other NATO countries.
Two B-52 also participate with training mine laying operation.
The exercise is a sharp signal exercise against the aggresive Russia.

The Backfires were scrambled by fighters from several countries after the Baltic. A Baltic "run".
The Backfires were very close to the Swedish border.
The Russian bombers were not using their transonders.

The B-52 participate the 13 july with mine laying outside the Swedish coast and the Danish Bornholm.
The mines are later deleted by ships.
The aircraft are flying nonstop from and to the US, with low pass to laying positions.
The exercise start in the beginning of June.

I suppose you made a typo? It should be June 13th in stead of July.

There will be two B52s at Fairford in this period for a deployment. See SIS.

Are those just two certain? At UKAR they claim a source within USAFE says Fairford is gearing up for 4*Buff 2*Bone for BALTOPS.

At least one of the two Backfires passing Öland is a Tu-22MR Backfire-D reconnaissance version.
Not yet much info of equipment.
The same type of aircraft were shut down över Georgia 2008. This plane from base Akhtubinsk, were one was based. Around 10 were built of this version. The Baltic plane maybee come from a Backfire base south of Moscow. Further Backfire-D bases is Murmansk-Olenogorsk and Irkutsk-Angara.

Strict policy of neutrality? I don't think so. Over the past decades, that has never really been the case.
Answers will be questioned.....

The situations is forced by the aggresive Russia. Without this we had no B-52 type exercises.
And at last is it forced by domestic policy in Russia, ie the domestic pressure on Putin.
Remember the B-52 exercise mine laying, a typical Baltic action.
In this action not only on Swedish coast, but also on the Danish island coast Bornholm in area.
