For those who are lucky enough to go, maybe wise to also try to make a left turn right after the entry through the main gate (so at this H-34). A right will take you to the airfield, a left will take you to the port. Not only should there be an Etendard preserved, but years ago when the open day was actually at the port, the hangar behind the platform housed a fair number of Frelons. Those should be gone by now as far as I can tell, but who knows what they will stuff in there during the airshow this time....

Hi Leonard,

Thanks for that, do I see a ferry service from the train station in Brest?

I might also be interested in sharing a car. I don't feel like driving 2,000 km on my own.

For Super Frelon lovers like myself, this site, posted on this forum recently, reveals two preserved ones in the area.
https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi ... CoJG_cODZw

No 162 is in the western corner of the base, on the D63 near Friterie Belge Serken on Google Maps :) Unless this will be the one on the static.
No 134 is in Brest near the Pont de Recouvrance, from where my ferry should sail :)
Both are visible on Google Streetview (does that count for the number spotters?)

Peter:)

Had a quick look around the air station and noticed the Frelon 162, normally displayed al the entrance of Lanveoc Village, now parked in front of one of the hangers near the main entrance of the base. Next to the Frelon S58 code F was parked. This one is normally displayed just behind the main entrance.

Cheers,
Ranger

A bit off topic but interesting for those Who are in the area, at Landivisau there are two Royal Navy Sea-King s XV 671/83 and XV697
and at the airport in Quimper is a single EC -145 stationed F-ZBPJ Securite Civil.
serials by me and my scramble -pijp

Go get them!

Alouette II 809 confirmed. It seems to be kept at Plobannalec indeed:
