W&R Milan-Malpensa

Post by erik_kamphuis »

Planning a holiday in Italy, I will visit Malpensa airport fot the Volandia museum and Agusta museum (Cascina Costa).
Behind this Agusta museum behind a big parking spot at Via Antonio Gramsci, a big helicopter is visible at Google Earth and at street view a wreck (aug'11).
Is looks like a Sea King/Pelican fuselage.
This heli is not mentioned in any W&R site (eurodemobbed/spottingmode).
Does anyone know what it is and is it still there?

Good find!
It seems it is there already since 2010 and the latest image is from 2014 and still shows it, good chance it is still there. By the looks of it it is a HH-3, but no idea which it might be. Looking forward to the trip report :-)

Outside:
c/n 232 Do-328JET fuselage only
(46-0217) Agusta A-102/YH-12B ex USAAF (wh/bl c/s, std behind building)
Stored in old building (not accessible):
(MM511 Caproni TM.2 ex AMI ??)
(MM52162 Saiman S.202 ex AMI ??)
1x fuselage WOII plane ?, green primer: should be Saiman S202 MM52162
1x Agusta A.115 ex AMI??
1x heli ??
In a maintenance hall right from the Space hall was a kind off SF-260 fuselage visible through windows, ID???

Is the Fiat G.46 the same aircaft that was here in new c/s???
I saw a stored heli through windows and crossed a small fence for a better view and found the white/blue Agusta. This should be the former USAAF YH-12B?
Next to it were 4 old Agusta helicopters inside a building, don't know the ID's, but one was a A.115, other Caproni TM2? and ??. Can anyone confirm?

See for pictures here:

I mailed the museum to see the stored A-129 MM590/EI-901, but that was back to Agusta again.

Who can help me with the unkown stored ID's or confirmation?
AB.47 I-TRIB has c/n 2926 and should be a Sioux AH.1, but can not find a former AAC serial!

It is not your YH-12, it is stored outside the museum. See this picture.

The YH-12 is the most right with 6217 on its tail boom. The other one with the "broken" tail, is also an interesting one:

Thanks for the info and picture.
Where were those heli's stored? Visible from the museum area? From when is this picture?
So I have not the YH-12, and red/wh AB.102.
I see now that 4 old heli's are in the building.
If anyone can confirm any of the types (and regs)?
