Papa Airbase Hungary

Hello,

As my holiday campsite is approximately 60km away from Papa Airbase in Hungary, I was wondering if there are any other planes too see there apart from the 3 HAW C17's.

Does anybody have any experience with the spotting possibilities at this airbase or is it a idea to go to the gate and ask if there is a pssibility for a sort of base visit for a dutch spotter with his 10 year old son??

I doubt you'll see much flying (apart from maybe a C-17), but if you are into non flying planes.... there are a bunch to found around Papa. Check out the MiG-21 storage for example (and zoom out to see other locations around there).

Non flying planes from the old days are always of interest for me. You think it's ok to take photo's or is it best to reprt to the main entrance and ask if photo taking is ok??

Never been to Papa, so can't say anything from experience. I have heard though, that the farmer close by is not too happy with spotters....
