F-AIR Colombia 2015, Rionergo (pics) thursday B-52 & AC-47

Post by stipjes »

Hello,

Yesterday I arrived in Medellin after a 54 hours journey. I made a 24 hours stopover in Dallas for spotting hence the duration. After landing I took a bus to the approach. Unfortunately the military where less happy then me. They sent me away twice but I was able to take some pics. Hope today is better.... At the end of last year the news came out that the Kfirs are grounded so I won't see that :-(... To many crashes they say... but there is a lot of nice stuff left.
One of the goals was a PNC C-47, that already worked out.
Image
Not the best quality but I like old.
Image
A local H-60 made an approach. On the platform I saw a special colours H-60.
Image
This Army H-60 I did not see on the platform after. So it might have been a visitor.
Image

Other aircraft came in too like a T90 and an OH-58. I think they have a heritage flight, a T-34 and Bell 47 arrived.

Thanks, luckely today turned out great. This would not have happened if the Military did not sent me and my new Venezualian friends away! I planned to stay all day in the approach. After a short stay with immigration I tried to get on the arrivals ramp. I met a friendly men at the entrance who had just been in Holland, he arranged a pass for me! Here are the first results. I will put more tomorrow but I must go to sleep:

The first 2 pics where shot before being sent away.

F-AIR Colombia 2015, Rionergo (pics) wednesday part 2

Post by stipjes »

Before I start with part 2 of the images from Wednesday/arrival day first some info:
Today I talked to the pilot of the A-37. The plane has only 20-30 hours left on the clock and will be phased out soon. All of them will be phased out in 5-6 years. Chili offered their A-37's but Colombia does not want them.... (second hand stuff from Chili, duhhh).
Tomorrow another (unfortunately painted) A-37 will come in for display.
The engine problems of the Kfir are tough. Most pilots that I spoke think that buying second hand F-16's from Israel is a good option.... One pilot who I mentioned the engine problem got a bit upset, the problem is a secret het said.....

still operational! I loved it.

This time in better conditions then the day before:
Image
4 Super Tucanos came in when the pic was taken but the fourth one was a bit distand...
Image

Image
Taken at 1/20sec. It is my favorite

The Tweety Bird is also painted unfortunately but better a painted one then none. Saturday a few will participate in the show.

F-AIR Colombia 2015, Rionergo (pics) friday

Post by stipjes »

Today started slow. The show only consisted of Halcones displaying and a quick A.350 fly by...
Luckely 4Avn arrived so the day went by fast. Around 4pm a second A-37 arrived besides some visitors. especially the Arava was very nice. At the end of the afternoon some visitors left (some after sunset) but the day turned out great! Hope you like the pics:

F-AIR Colombia 2015, Rionergo (pics) saturday

Post by stipjes »

Today was a day with some new aircraft. The show was in "full" swing (parachutes, H-60's, T-37's, A-37 and Halcones).
Halcones looked a bit sad because they again had engine problems (already since wednesday) with one a/c and no spare.... The two shows were done by four a/c.
The EJC An.32 was a welcome visitor. It brought some Army people.
At the end of the day two police Hueys, a H-60, Mi.171 and the VIP H-60 arrived. The first four protected FAC-0001 that left just before sunset. An other H-60 was patrolling the sky.

Today I took pictures from the inside of the 727 :-), I flew from Rionegro to Bogota in it.
Today the weather was great for good shots (in the afternoon). There where not to many new visitors but the Metro and two Police Blackhawks were very welcome.

I know that there are some dust spots on some pics but my configuration on PS4 has a strange stetting. If I want to clone it gives darks spots.....
Anyway, I had a great week in Rionegro and I hope to be back in Colombia next year! It is a great country with very friendly people. back to work again on teusday and preparing for the next Holiday! I hope you liked the report.

Beauties Patrick,
F-28 was in Woensdrecht last year for maintenance, nice paint job, great pic.

I don't think there is a single Colombian who has the answer to the following question:
How many types of aircraft and helicopters do the Colombian forces have? [Good Scramble Quiz Question]

Thinking about the maintenance programs.... its a killer!
