Sadly, the top of the loop was too low to allow any margin... :-(
And the pilot's last second trial, in order to avoid the crowd on the ground increased its rate of descent.
RIP

With several "non-airshow-visitors" now amongst the victims this could have repercussions for future airshows in the UK. I hope not, but there may be some "knee-jerk reactions".

Some sources claim the Pilot ejected but looking at these shots i cant imagine when.. it must be after impact then...

Most sources claim the pilot was pulled from the wreckage though. Which seems more likely.

Can't you sue that creatures for misusing a piece of paper to print that on as an environmental crime?

To answer to some of the former posts about the Hunter, as a former mil pilot I can tell you that an ejection is impossible under these circumstances :-(
There are key points in a demo. His last one was at the top of the loop, checking altitude and speed.
This was the last opportunity for him to make a half roll and save his life.
After that, you can pull your stick harder, use airbrakes, reduce thrust ... it's unfortunatly too late.
Demos have different schemes. The most difficult are the one including vertical low-altitude maneuvers.
In Air Forces, only a few highly trained pilots can present their a/c in the vertical axis (BE and NL F-16 solo, Rafale solo ...).
Maybe somthing to think about for warbirds presentations ...

"Vakbroeders"/Professionals and/or other interested people may want to follow

Just don't engage in that discussion actively if you know "Fvck A11" about fast-jet operations and piloting jets like these in real life. :!:
They certainly do not like non-professional wannabees muddying the waters...

I agree with you.
And to "analyse" a little bit more this sad accident, please find hereafter another pilot testimony (once again, key points...) :

Captain Eric “Winkle” Brown, a former Fleet Air Arm test pilot who has flown Hunters and was at the air show, said the most likely cause of the crash was pilot error. He said:
"At this stage if I had to make a guess I would say it was totally pilot error. I think he started the loop too low, which meant he didn't have time to pull out when he completed the loop.
As I was watching it I was thinking he had started to pull up too low. I've seen it happen two or three times at air days, it's a pretty common pilot's error.
When he got to the bottom of the loop he had run out of space and he was 'mushing in', in other words the nose of the aircraft was pointing up but it was still falling because he had lost lift.
It's a flat stall and you will drop like a stone when that happens."
