During the summer of 2015 twelve Spitfires took to the skies out of Humberside airport and flew a sortie over the local towns and villages. The objective was simply to take these amazing pieces of machinery to as many people as possible and allow them to experience first hand what it would have been like to live under a war in our skies.
The day was a great success and despite difficult weather conditions the Spitfires were seen by thousands who came out to watch them across several regions including Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the East Midlands.
This short edit tells the story of the day from the crews prospective and shows what goes on behind the scenes to make a day like this possible.
